Vulnerable *~* A Loki One Shot *~* For NoctislucisI'm making this for Noctislucis before I do my request because I figured that it would be easier. I hope it's okay. :-) It's pre-Avengers, just for reference and stuffs.
Kait woke up gasping from another one of her nightmares. She blinked, her eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness, making her finally realize that she was in her bedroom and absolutely nothing was on fire. She took a deep breath, climbing out of bed, grabbing a jumper and heading out to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
Kait finally made it down the hall and into the kitchen, furrowing her brow when she heard the strange noise that was coming from the room. Her eyes scanned the room, though it was hard to make anything out when it was all dark. Eventually, her eyes landed on the table and she saw Loki slumped over the table, his dark hair pooled around his face as he buried his face in his arm.
"Loki?" Kait started, a surprised tone to her voice. Loki's head snapped up almost immediately and she could tell by the redness around his eyes that he'd been crying. She wasn't sure why, but it made her sad and she wanted to comfort him and ask him what had happened.
"K-Kait?" Loki managed, adjusting his posture and folding his hand in front of him on the table, resisting the urge to wipe his eyes so that he didn't look so....pathetic. He was sure that Kait was going to think he was completely weak after this. "Why are you up at this hour?"
"I had a bad dream. I just needed a glass of water." Kait answered quickly, though what she wanted to say was more along the lines of, 'Shouldn't I be asking you the same question?', she still managed to resist, "Are you alright?" she asked worriedly, sitting down across from Loki.
Loki started to nod dismissively and tell Kait to go back to bed, but somewhere in the process something went wrong and his head fell against the table again. He shook his head the tiniest bit and Kait's face pulled into a frown. She'd never seen him like this, what could possibly have made him feel so horrible.
"Here, let's get you to bed. Maybe you'll feel better after some sleep." she suggested, standing up and offering Loki her hand. He smiled a little bit and took it, leading her off to his room. Her nightmare had already been almost completely forgotten.
Finally, they arrived and Loki reluctantly let go of Kait's hand, climbing back into his bed and under the sheets. He must have been feeling better, because when Kait started to leave he got back his old, demanding tone, "Stay." he said firmly and she did, laying down next to him because what was the harm in that? He wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in her hair, "Thank you." he said quietly, almost inaudibly. Kait just smiled.
