Chapter Selector


The human mind is such an interesting thing - like an onion in a way. There are so many layers to it. Once you’ve moved passed one layer you go to the next like in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. That’s why old people are so wise - they’ve made it to the top of the pyramid.

I didn’t want to be ‘forever young’ like everyone else. I wanted to grow old and look back at my mistakes, but not have any regrets either.

As I looked in his eyes I could see everything. An open book. All the plots, new and old, like now - he was going to strike at me. He smiled knowingly, it was a twisted smile that I hated. These weren’t games. It was life and life was hard work. Sometimes I didn’t want to be alive, but I knew at some point there would be a reward for my work.

That reward was tied up in the basement and I would need to save him. I looked back to my opponent and broke the silence, “Let’s go.”
